Two Charged in Robbery of Unconscious Man in Port Chester

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – Port Chester police have made two arrests in connection with the robbery of an unconscious man lying on a sidewalk along North Main Street.

The investigation began after video footage posted by a blogger revealed multiple bystanders attempting to rob an unconscious man, since identified as Elias Rojas, on the night of May 20.

At 4 a.m. Sunday, June 3, police arrested Melissa Rodriguez, 34 of Manhattan at the nightclub La Dolce Vita. The nightclub is just a few doors down from where the incident occurred. Rodriguez was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a class E felony. Police said Rodriguez took a set of headphones from Rojas. Rodriguez was released on $750 bail.

About 2:15 p.m. Monday, David Roman of Port Chester turned himself in. Roman, 27, was also charged with fourth-degree grand larceny.

Police said a wallet containing $400 was taken from Rojas. Roman was released on $250 bail and is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. Thursday.
