Traffic Control Worker Charged With Public Indecency In New Canaan

A traffic control agent working in New Canaan is facing a public indecency charge after allegedly being caught masturbating inside his vehicle while he was on a break on Thursday afternoon, police said.

Officers from the New Canaan Police Department were dispatched shortly after 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, to the area of South Avenue and Hawthorne Road, where there was a report from witnesses of New Haven resident Thomas Allen Whye, 26, touching himself in the front seat.

Police said that Whye told investigating officers that “his pants were down and he was fixing his underwear and adjusting his genitals, but not masturbating."

Whye was taken into custody and charged with public indecency at New Canaan Police Headquarters. Following processing, Whye is being held in lieu of $1,000 bond and is due in New Canaan Justice Court on June 25 to answer the charge.
