Denied alcohol because he had no ID and looked young, an enraged 34-year-old man chased a manager into the kitchen of the Kona Grille in Stamford on Sunday night as his two female companions chased and attacked a pair of waitresses, Stamford police said.

A man and two women stopped at the restaurant at the Stamford Town Center at about 9:30 p.m. and ordered alcoholic drinks, police said. The waitress refused to serve the man because he didn't have any identification and looked young, said Sgt. Simon Blanc.

"That is when the man got upset and started yelling that he was a grown man and they come here all the time,” Blanc said.

The three patrons all began yelling and cursing, Blanc said, but then left the restaurant. They returned a short time later and asked for the manager, Blanc said.

The manager explained he couldn't serve them and walked them to the door, police said.

But suddenly the man turned on the manager and chased him into the kitchen, police said. Meanwhile, the two women chased the two female waitresses to the rear of the entrance, where they started punching them in the head, police said.

One of the waitresses was held against a car as she was punched, police said.

They fled out the restaurant's front door, followed by the waitresses, who pointed them out to officers, who detained all three, police said.

James M. Davis, 34, of 21 Aberdeen St., was charged with breach of peace and threatening. Jennifer Prince, 23, of 21 Aberdeen St., was charged with third-degree assault and breach of peace. Dorah Ford, 18, of 77 Connecticut Ave., was charged with third-degree assault and breach of peace.

Bond was set at $2,500 each for Davis and Prince while Ford was released on a promise to appear in court.
