Port Chester Woman Charged With Heroin Possession

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – A Port Chester woman was arrested with 10 envelopes of heroin Monday in a drug selling investigation, police said.

Lt. James Ladeairous, spokesman for the Port Chester Police Department, said the arrest was part of a drug investigation by detectives and the Westchester County Police.

“They were watching her and they had some control buys in the area of 24 Sand St., where she lives,” Ladeairous said.

Detectives got a warrant and about 4:30 p.m. Monday saw Joann Romanello, 55, at a shopping center on Midland Avenue. They followed her to her home, where she answered the door and was served the warrant. She admitted having drugs in the house and showed police where the 10 envelopes with heroin were, police said.

Romanello was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony. She was held without bail and is due Thursday in Village Court.
