Police: Port Chester Man Threatens Greenwich Woman, Breaks Into Her Home

GREENWICH, Conn. -- A man repeatedly threatened a woman over the phone, broke into her home and ripped up a pair of her underwear in front of four children while holding a knife early Sunday, Greenwich Police said.

Adriano B. Pinheiro, 32, of 211 Chestnut St., Port Chester, N.Y., was arrested and charged with threatening, second-degree harassment and disorderly conduct; two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief; and four counts of risk of injury to a child, police said.

Pinheiro told the woman he had a knife and threatened to kill her during a series of telephone calls, police said. He broke into her Sinawoy Road home in Cos Cob by using a screwdriver and held a knife in front of the four children gathered there, police said. He then ripped up a pair of her underwear, all while talking on the phone to the woman, police said. 

Police were contacted at at 12:09 a.m.

Police did not say whether the woman was present in the residence or what connection there was between the man and the woman.

Bond was set at $5,000 and Pinheiro was scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford on Monday.
