Port Chester Man Charged In Theft Attempt During Storm

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – A Port Chester man was arrested during the worst hours of Hurricane Sandy on Monday and accused of trying to steal from a resident’s car.

A woman was looking out her window to watch the storm Monday at 9 p.m. when she saw a suspicious man walking up Hobart Avenue toward her home, according to Lt. Jim Ladeairous, spokesman for the Port Chester Police Department.

She told the police the man then headed to her 2010 Honda Accord and entered her car. The woman called her son and husband from inside the house and they grabbed the man and held him until police arrived.

Ahmed Khlil Dazzazi, 25, 71 Halstead Ave., Port Chester was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of attempted petit larceny.
