Port Chester Man Charged In Domestic Assault

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – A 38-year-old Port Chester man was arrested Sunday on an attempted assault charge for allegedly punching a woman in the mouth, police said.

Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute on Poningo Street and saw the woman had a bloody, swollen lip.

Javier Mamani of 52 Poningo St. was charged with third-degree attempted assault, a misdemeanor. He was released on $500 bond and is due Sept. 27 in Village Court.

DWI Charge: A 28-year-old Greenwich, Conn., man was charged with driving while intoxicated after an officer on patrol about 4 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, encountered a black Volkswagen Beetle that was sitting sideways on Willet Avenue. A man standing next to the car told the officer that the car had slipped while he was driving, police said. The officer smelled alcohol and the man admitted he had been drinking, police said. Julio Sanchez, 5 Beech St., was arrested and released on $250 bail. He is due Friday, Sept. 21, in Village Court.
