Police received a panic alarm from El Paisano on Grace Church Street at around 3:30 p.m. Monday, according to Lt. James Ladeairous. When officers arrived, the manager told them a man had entered and forced her to open the cash registers. He took the money, which Ladaeirous said totaled between $2,000 and $3,000, and then ran out of the store.

Nobody was hurt in the robbery. A 15-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy were in the store when the robbery occurred and were ordered to the back of the store during the incident, police said.

The robber was described as a Caucasian or light-skinned Hispanic man in his 30s, thin and between 5'7" and 5'10". He wore a navy blue hat, sunglasses, a grey sweatshirt, jeans, black boots and black gloves. He was brandishing a silver handgun, according to Ladaeirous.

The matter still is being investigated.
