PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- A security guard for a Port Chester store was accused of stealing clothes from the store across the street Saturday.
The woman was stopped trying to leave Kohl's with several items of clothes in a bag, according to Lt. James Ladeairous. Employees witnessed the woman walk into the dressing room with the clothes and exit without them, police said. Inside the bag were 28 men's shirts, two pairs of men's pants, three women's wallets and a pair of women's shoes, police said. The total value of the items was estimated to be $538.
When police arrived they discovered that the woman, a 23-year-old resident of Bridgeport, Conn., was actually a security guard from the neighboring A.I. Friedman's store. She was on her break during the incident, Ladeairous said. She was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
