Photo Released Of Armed Robber In $13K Port Chester Jewelry Store Heist

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Police released an image from a surveillance video on Tuesday of an armed robbery suspect from Kay Jewelers at The Waterfront of Port Chester.

Police said the robbery occurred about 7 p.m. on Monday evening.Nearly $13,000 worth of rings were reported stolen including:

-- a 14-caret white gold diamond band worth nearly $2,900;

-- a Leo Ladies' diamond ring worth nearly #1,790;

-- a 14-caret white gold Leo Solitaire ring worth nearly $8,400.

According to Port Chester police, at 6:59 p.m. Monday, a lone suspect entered the store where two jewelry consultant specialists were working. 

One guest was present at the time of the theft. The suspect handed a note stating to put the diamonds in a bag and that he had a gun, police said.

The jewelry consultant specialist complied first going to the Leo case, as she was putting rings in the bag she dropped three to four items on the floor and three in the bag.

The robbery suspect then pointed to the Tolkowsky case where she tried to bag two pieces but dropped them on the floor. The suspect then fled the store on foot, police said on Tuesday. 

The store, following protocol then pushed a panic button after suspect left at 7:03 p.m. No one was hurt and the gun was not shown, police said.

Port Chester police responded within two minutes.

Closed-circuit video, pictures and prints were taken from the location.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5-foot, 8-inches tall who is stocky with a full beard. He was wearing a baseball cap, blue shirt, beige jacket and workboots when the robbery occurred. Police Information: Port Chester Police department
