Carl Peon Diaz, 49, of Wappinger was arrested Monday, June 4, by members of the Dutchess County Drug Task Force, said Frank Tasciotti, assistant coordinator of the task force.

Diaz was nabbed after the task force received information regarding narcotics sales between the cities of Beacon and Poughkeepsie, Tasciotti said.

He was taken into custody in the City of Poughkeepsie and during his arrest was found to be in possession of more than 500 bags of heroin, scales, and packaging materials, he added.

Diaz was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. He is being held at the Dutchess County Jail without bail.

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office K9 division assisted in the investigation. Additional charges may be pending.
