Police told Greenwich Time that town employees noticed a shortfall in the department's finances in July.

Officers determined that 49-year-old Martha Reyes of the Bronx had taken more than $2,000 from a petty cash account, according to Greenwich Time.

Reyes was a budget and systems supervisor for the Department of Human Services and had access to the petty cash account, Greenwich Time reported.

Reyes was charged with second-degree larceny, a felony, NBC Connecticut said. She had worked there since 2011, but is no longer employed by the town, according to Greenwich Time.
