Downed Tree Traps Two Women In Port Chester

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – Two passengers were trapped inside a car in Port Chester on Sunday night when a tree toppled onto the vehicle during a thunderstorm, Port Chester police said.

The Fire Department responded to 145 Terrace Ave. around 8 p.m. Sunday and found a 47-year-old woman and a 58-year-old woman trapped inside a 2009 Toyota Corolla by a tree in the front yard that had fallen onto the car, police Lt. James Ladeairous said. The women were uninjured and no live wires were down. The driver was able to drive through the branches and up the driveway to get out of the car. Both women declined medical attention.

During the storm eight vehicles were damaged by trees in Port Chester, police said. The department also received calls that seven wires were down and 11 trees had fallen altogether.
