Cops: Woman Bought Bogus Tickets To Capitol Theatre

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. - A woman was sold fake tickets to a concert at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester last week, police said.

The woman was looking on Craigslist for tickets to a Matchbox 20 show when she made contact with someone who identified himself as John, said Lt. James Ladeairous. They met in White Plains, where he sold her two tickets for $120 each, police said.

When the woman arrived at the concert, she found out the tickets were fake, police said. She was able to get seats, police said. When she sat down, she met another woman who had also been ripped off, police said.

Consumers should be wary of online deals and make sure what they are buying online is legitimate before spending money on it, Ladeairous said.
