PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- A former neighbor of a 54-year-old plumber -- brutally stabbed to death in 2011 -- was indicted Thursday in connection with the home-invasion murder.

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced that a four-count indictment was unsealed Oct. 23 against Jahkim McGhee, 20, of 544 Locust Ave., Port Chester.

He was charged with two counts of second-degree murder, both class A-1 felonies; one count of first-degree burglary, a class B felony; and  one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class A  misdemeanor.

McGhee was indicted in the Sept. 11, 2011, death of Anthony Guglielmo, a plumber who lived alone with his teenage daughter. McGhee faces the maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison. He is due to reappear in court on Nov. 6.

Port Chester Police Chief Richard Conway, in a prepared statement, said, "First and foremost, we hope that this indictment brings some degree of closure to the family and friends of the victim Anthony Guglielmo. We cannot imagine how difficult the last three years must have been for them."

Conway added, "Today’s indictment was brought about through the efforts of Detectives Tom Munnelly, and Chris Krzeminski. For three years they brought the same determination to the case that they did on day one. They never wavered in commitment to bringing Mr. Guglielmos’ killer to justice."

During 2010 and early 2011, the victim and his daughter had lived in an apartment across the street from the defendant, DiFiore said.

About 5:30 a.m. on the Sunday that Guglielmo was found bludgeoned to death, Port Chester police received a 911 call of a burglary in progress at 235 Mortimer St. The phone call was made by the victim's 14-year-old daughter, Nicole.

Guglielmo was found lying face down in a massive pool of blood in the living room with a single stab wound to the chest, police said. The daughter told police her father had been stabbed by an intruder. A large butcher knife was found on the floor.

The girl's mother took custody of the daughter, and the teen began attending high school in Mount Vernon.

Port Chester's detectives were joined in their investigation by the Westchester County Police. Police and prosecutors and investigators from the District Attorneys Office continued to press the case, developing information as to the identity of the perpetrator, according to DiFiore.

Assistant District Attorney Perry Perrone, chief of the Homicide Bureau, and Assistant District Attorney Nadine Nagler of the Superior Court Trial Division are prosecuting the case.
