Second Hudson Valley Victim ID'd In Fatal Military Plane Crash

A Fishkill resident has been identified by his family as one of 16 service members, including 15 Marines, who died in Monday's fiery military plane crash in Mississippi.

Brendan Johnson, 46, a U.S. Marine Corps gunnery sergeant, was identified by his father Kevin Johnson as one of the victims when the aircraft crashed into a soybean field, reported WCAX.com in Vermont, where the father lives.

Johnson lived with his wife Anna Tousey-Johnson in Fishkill while stationed at Stewart Air National Guard Base, in Newburgh. Nine of those killed were stationed at Stewart. The other seven soldiers were based in North Carolina.

Johnson planned to retire next year.

Another Hudson Valley resident stationed at Stewart was also killed in the crash: Owen Lennon, a native of Pomona in Rockland County. For more on Lennon, check this Daily Voice report.

A Vermont native, Johnson graduated from Colchester High School and Johnson State College before joining the Marines, his father told WCAX.com.

The plane, a KC-130, crashed around 4 p.m. Monday in Leflore County, Miss., the military said on Tuesday.
