PORT CHESTER, N.Y. - Richard E. Kugel, 81, a lifelong Port Chester resident, died Sunday, April 26.

He was born May 10, 1933, in Port Chester, to the late Kenneth and Florence Mazzuli Kugel.

Kugel served in the U.S. Army Reserve.

He also was a chemist for 50 years for Stauffer Chemical in Dobbs Ferry.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta Schmeiler Kugel of Port Chester; three sons, Richard (Frances) Kugel of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., Michael A. Kugel of Buffalo, and Lt. Col. Kevin (Kelly) Kugel of Seekonk, Mass.; two daughters, Nancy Lovallo of Briarcliff Manor and Kathy (Al) Benvenuti of Putnam Valley; two brothers, Robert Kugel of Norwalk, Conn., and Kenneth Kugel of Doylestown, Pa.; and seven grandchildren.

Calling hours will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Craft Memorial Home, 40 Leicester St., Port Chester.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 260 Westchester Ave., Port Chester.

Interment will follow in the Greenwood Union Cemetery, 215 North St., Rye.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Greenwich Hospital, 5 Perryridge Road, Greenwich, CT 06830, or Calvary Hospital, 1740 Eastchester Road, Bronx, NY 10461.
