Port Chester Village Trustee John Branca Dies

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. - Village Trustee John Branca died Sunday morning after a long illness.

Branca was born in Port Chester to Salvatore and Caroline Branca. He married his childhood sweetheart Linda.

Branca served in the US Army from 1969 to 1971. He worked as a Program Director for IBM for more than 25 years.

Branca was elected Village Trustee in Port Chester in 1983 and served until 1992. In 1993 he was elected Mayor of Port Chester and served until 1995. He was re-elected Trustee in 2010.

He was a member of the Elks, the American Legion and served as an usher in church. 

In addition to his wife, Branca is survived by his children,  John S. and Gene (Lisa) Branca; three grandchildren; and his sister Ann (Bob) Allison. He was predeceased by his brother Ralph Branca.

 

Visiting hours will be held at Gunipero Farenga Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 26 from 4  to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Port Chester on Wednesday, March 27.

Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Rye Brook.

In lieu of flowers, the flowers are asking that donations be made to Jansen Hospice 670 White Plains Road, Scarsdale, NY 10583.
