Michael J. Fleming, 87, Port Chester Resident

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Port Chester resident Michael J. Fleming died on Thursday, January 21. He was 87.

He was born April 13, 1928, in County Kerry, Ireland to Thomas and Elizabeth Carmody Fleming

Fleming was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a parishioner and usher at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Port Chester.

Fleming enjoyed his trips to Ireland, having tea by the fire with his family as well as riding his bike through town, well into his senior years.

He is survived by his daughters, Eileen and Shelia; grandchildren Siobhan, Tommy, Sean, Michael, Tara and Andrew; two great grandchildren; and sister Maureen McDonough.

Fleming was predeceased by siblings Joan Murphy, Jim Fleming, Margaret Casey, Paddy Fleming and Shaun Fleming.

Visiting hours will be from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 22, at Craft Memorial Home, 40 Leicester St., in Port Chester.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23, at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 260 Westchester Ave., in Port Chester. 

Interment will follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery, in Rye.
