Michael A. Sposta, 52, Port Chester Native

NAUGATUCK, Conn. – Michael A. Sposta, of Naugatuck, died on Oct. 9. He was 52.

Sposta was born in Port Chester, N.Y. on July 28, 1963, living most of his life in Norwalk and graduating from Brien McMahon High School in 1981.

He served in the U.S.Army, receiving the Army Achievement Medal for Outstanding Performance in diesel mechanics and generators and was honorably discharged in 1987.

In 1988, Sposta graduated from Porter & Chester Institute and worked for the Norwalk Transit District as a diesel mechanic.

He was predeceased by grandparents Joseph and Katherine Sposta and Antonio and Libera Ricciardella.

Sposta is survived by his mother Josephine and her husband Joseph Rider; father Andre of Greenwich, brother Donald, sister Stephanie Cenatiempo and brother-in-law Stefano, nephews Christopher and Steven and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visiting hours are from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Norwalk’s Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 E. Wall St.

A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Matthew’s Church.

Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Norwalk.
