Matthew A. Gasparini, 88, Former Port Chester Resident

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Matthew A. Gasparini of Poughkeepsie, formerly of Port Chester, died Wednesday, Dec. 18. He was 88.

Gasparini was born May 31, 1925 in Port Chester to Felice and Agnes Cologna Gasparini. He was educated in Port Chester and graduated from Port Chester High School in 1943. He served in the Army from 1943 to 1945 in the 10th Mountain Division. He lived in Poughkeepsie for the past two years. Before that, he lived in Port Chester from 1925 to 2011. He worked as an insurance agent for Prudential Insurance Company in White Plains. He was with the company for 20 years before retiring in 1983. Locally, he was a parishioner of Corpus Christi Church.

Gasparini is survived by his wife, Mary Gasparini; sons, Philip (Gaylene) of Port Chester and Joseph (Karen) of Hyde Park; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother, Joseph of St. James. He was predeceased by his parents; and sister, Matilda.

Calling hours are from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21 at Joseph Tutera Funeral Home Inc., 121 South Regent St., Port Chester. The funeral is at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21 at Corpus Christi Church, 136 South Regent St., Port Chester. Interment will be private.
