Lorrayne D. Cuozzo, 88, Of Port Chester, Retired Nurse, United Hospital

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. - Lorrayne D. Cuozzo, a longtime resident of Port Chester, died Saturday, Nov. 22. She was 88.

Cuozzo was born in 1926, in Peekskill, to George and Marjorie Dunnigan. After completing high school there, she attended Grasslands School of Nursing in Valhalla, graduating as a registered nurse. She began her nursing career at the Westchester Medical Center Hospital. She worked as a nurse at United Hospital in Port Chester, and continued nursing there. While still working full time as a nurse, she elected to return to college and complete the coursework for a Bachelor of Science degree, which she earned from Pace University in 1981. She retired from United Hospital in 1991, but returned there frequently as a volunteer. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy church in Port Chester. She was a member of the Altar Society and was involved with the Catholic Daughters of America for many years.

Cuozzo is survived by her sister, Michelle Rocco; brother, Colin Dunnigan; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Anthony Anzalone; sister-in-law, Martha Anzalone; and second husband, Daniel Cuozzo.

Calling hours are from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 260 Westchester Ave., Port Chester. Interment to follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery Rye Brook.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
