Bingell grew up in Ossining and leaves behind his wife Bonnie, two daughters Sharon and Jackie, two stepchildren, Amy and Peter, and a number of grandchildren.

A GoFundMe account has been set-up to help relieve the financial burden on the family and to help cover funeral costs.

Bingell found out he had cancer after first being treated for pneumonia in May while visiting his daughter. Days later he returned to the hospital and was told he was suffering from Stage 4 lung and bone cancer.

Since then, he has been in and out of the hospital and was admitted for the last time on Tuesday, Oct. 10, only to be told his cancer had spread.

Friends are hoping to raise $25,000 to help the family. Late Thursday afternoon, $50 had been raised. To help, visit GoFundMe.
