Joseph J. Brogan, 90, Port Chester Resident

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – Joseph J. Brogan, a resident of Port Chester and Greenwich, Conn., died Sunday, Jan. 31 at Greenwich Hospital. He was 90.

Known as Big Joe to family and friends, he was born and raised in White Plains. He was a World War WII veteran who served in the Navy . After completing his service, he married Josephine Mahoney in 1948.

He worked for N.Y. Telephone and AT&T for more than 35 years.

He was an active member of the VFW and American Legion. He also was an active member of Catholic Widow and Widower Club at Saint Pius X in Scarsdale for 20 years. 

His wife died in 1990; and he also was predeceased by his sisters Muriel Kennedy and Dorothy Mullane.

He is survived by his sons Brian (Virginia) of Los Gatos, Calif.; and Glenn (Robin) of Greenwich, Conn.; grandchildren Brian, Patrick, Kevin, Allison and Kelly Brogan; and his brother Bob, known as Peewee, of Palm Coast, Fla.

His companion was Rosemary McMullan.

Visitation will be held Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the McMahon-Lyon and Hartnett Funeral Home, 491 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church, 84 Sherwood Ave. Greenwich. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 575 Hillside Ave., White Plains.
