John R. Cotte, 79, Lifelong Port Chester Resident

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. - John R. Cotte, a lifelong resident of Port Chester, died Oct. 12. He was 79.

Cotte was born Sept. 30, 1934, in Port Chester, to Raphael and Caroline Zirpolo Cotte. He graduated from Port Chester High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Korea, attaining the rank of corporal. He was a hairdresser for more than 50 years and was at Montage Salon in Mamaroneck for the past 20 years. He was a parishioner and former trustee of Holy Rosary Church. He was also a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus and the Port Chester Yacht Club.

Cotte is survived by his wife, Nina Cotte; children, Lisa Cotte LoMonaco (Joseph), John M. Cotte (Debra), Jill Cotte Giunta and Christopher M. Cotte (Stella); five grandchildren; sisters, Jeanette Bucci (Anthony) and Rosemary Forsberg (Larry) and Sal Barrese; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and sister, Pauline Barrese.

Calling hours are from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Craft Memorial Home Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Holy Rosary Church, 22 Don Bosco Place, Port Chester. Interment to follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Rye Brook.
