PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Former Port Chester High School teacher Lt. Colonel James S. Volk, Sr. died on Saturday, Oct. 26. He was 74.

Volk’s professional life spanned many careers including 30 years of Service in the United States Army, 20 years as a High School Technical Drawing Professor at Port Chester High School and in his later years as a B.O.C.E.S. Teacher and Topographer. His passions included photography, bicycling and flower gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bea; children, James S. (Jean) Volk, Jr., Lisa Gleason, Laura Stuch, Robert (Leanna) Volk; grandchildren, Veronica (Sam) Miller, Laura (Marc) Graham, Angel and Gregory Stuch, Ethan Volk, Kael and Roslynn Volk and his great grandchildren Elizabeth and Christopher Graham.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 10:30 a.m. at the Jacksonville National Cemetery in Florida
