PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Eugene A. Wells, a lifelong resident of Port Chester died Saturday, April 23. He was 93.
He was born July 26, 1923, to Rose and James V. Wells.
He served in World War II from 1943-45 in North Africa, Italy and France, and received the Purple Heart among other awards.
He is survived by his sister, Aileen Tomlinson, a son, James E. Wells and wife, Patty, a daughter Patricia J. Mertz and husband, Paul and grandchildren, Donald and David Wells, Jennifer Kemka, Paul and Mathew Mertz, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian, and a brother James.
Calling hours are scheduled for Wednesday, April 27, between 4 and 8 p.m. at the Joseph Tutera Funeral Home, 121 S. Regent St. in Port Chester.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, at Corpus Christi Church, 136 S. Regent St. in Port Chester with burial to follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye.
