Caroline H. Gallagher, 87, Worked At Our Lady Of Mercy In Port Chester

COS COB, Conn. - Caroline H. Gallagher of Cos Cob died Sept. 5. She was 87.

Gallagher was born Jan. 7, 1927, in Greenwich, to Herbert J. and Adele Haugh Hoose. She graduated from Port Chester High School in 1944 and attended Vermont Junior College in Montpelier, Vt. She spent many years involved with her husband’s work as executive director of the Catholic Youth Program at Our Lady Of Mercy in Port Chester, N.Y., and later on worked in the district 15 school system in Southbury.

Gallagher is survived by her son, William H. Gallagher (Ann Hyland Gallagher). She was predeceased by her parents; husband, William R. Gallagher; and daughter, Linda Lee Gallagher.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13 at Our Lady Of Mercy Church, 260 Westchester Ave., Port Chester. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, 399 North St., Greenwich.
