Bruce E. Melillo, 81, Port Chester Native

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – Bruce E. Melillo, of New York City, died Saturday, June 18, at his home in Manhattan. He was 81.

The son of Nick and Sue Melillo, he was born and raised in Port Chester with his sisters, Patricia (William) Telesca and Rosemary (Donald) Marturano. 

He graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in economics. 

He served in the U.S. Navy and later founded Riverside Sales & Marketing, a successful international manufacturer’s representative company. With over 50 years in the housewares industry, he made many friends around the globe. He never retired and worked hard for the benefit of many.

He is survived by his sons, Stephen Melillo (Shari) of Smithfield, Va., Ron Melillo (Michele) of Newtown, Conn., Mark Melillo (Susan) of Wilton, Conn., Nick Melillo (Naoko) of Cutchogue and stepson, Brion Van Over (Danielle) of Granby, Mass.; and six grandsons and two granddaughters.

He was predeceased by Carmel Melillo, his first wife, and Cheri Melillo, his second wife.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Redden Funeral Home, 325 W. 14th St. in New York City. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Marble Collegiate Church, 1 West 29th St., New York City. Burial will follow that same day at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Greenwich, Conn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to the cancer research of one’s choice.
