STAMFORD, Conn. - Bernardo P. Stella of Stamford died Tuesday, Sept. 17. He was 72.
Stella was born April 18, 1941, in Esperia, Italy, to Giovanna Masone Stella and Umberto P.G. Stella. He was the owner of Nando’s Beauty Salon in Port Chester, N.Y., for over 42 years. He was a member of the Minturnese Social Club, the American Association of Cosmetology and the St. Mary Nocturnal Adoration Society. He was also a member of the Stamford Bocce League.
Stella is survived by his wife, Anna Masone Stella of Stamford; mother, Giovanna Stella; daughter, Joanna Genovese (Charles); sons, Umberto Stella (Mary Ellen) and Marc Stella, all of Wilton; sisters, Maria Pia Ricca and Angela Garzillo (Giovanni); brother, Angelo Palmerini (Silvana) all of Italy; and eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father, Bernardo; and daughter-in-law, Marcia Stella.
Calling hours are Thursday, Sept. 19 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home Friday, Sept. 20 at 9:30 a.m. and proceed to St. Mary’s RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at St. John RC Cemetery, Darien, Saturday, Sept. 21 at 10 a.m.
