PORT CHESTER, N.Y. - Andrew D. Stambone, a native of Port Chester, died Tuesday at Danbury Hospital in Connecticut after a brief illness.
Stambone graduated Port Chester High School in 1965. Soon after, he served in Vietnam where he earned the Army Commendation Medal and other decorations. After his honorable discharge, he continued to serve the military community of Port Chester as commander of American Legion Post 93.
Stambone always loved the cannoli at Cassone’s Bakery, the pizza at Tarry Lodge, and the hot dogs at Texas. A trip to Port Chester would never be complete without visiting at least one of them.
Stambone is survived by his wife of 40 years, Helen Earhart Stambone, and his three children: Glen, David, and Andrea.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., in Bethel, Conn. A funeral service will be held in his honor at 9:30 a.m., Saturday at St. Mary’s Church, at 26 Dodgingtown Road, Bethel, Conn.
