The bond, which was approved by the Board of Legislators’ Infrastructure Committee on Tuesday, would provide 33 articulated hybrid-electric buses that could be on the road by 2017, according to lohud.com.

The plan is now set to move to the full Board of Legislators for final approval, according to lohud.com, which reported that the current fleet of buses used on the line are from 2002-2003.

According to lohud.com, the new buses are expected to last about 12 years with federal grant money allotted to replace the buses’ batteries after about six years.
