Tractor-Trailer Cleared From Merritt Exit Ramp

GREENWICH, Conn. -- UPDATE 5 p.m. The tractor trailer has been removed from exit ramp and northbound traffic has returned to normal on the Merritt Parkway in Greenwich.

ORIGINAL STORY

A tractor-trailer drove onto the northbound Merritt Parkway on Friday afternoon and became stuck when it attempted to take the Exit 29 off-ramp onto Lake Avenue, according to Greenwich police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray.

Police were on the scene directing cars around the exit, but traffic was quickly backing up toward the New York state border.

The entrance and exit to and from the Merritt Parkway at Lake Avenue was closed as of 2 p.m.
