PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Friday was the last day of the Carver Center 's summer program and the children and staff had prepared special performances for parents as they get ready to go back to school,"It's a celebration of how successful our summer program was this year," said Janett Grose, director of children's programs at the Carver Center.There were 130 children in the summer program this year with ages ranging from five to 13.Over the past six weeks they went on field trips, exercised, studied, learned about other countries and ate healthy snacks and lunches.The children prepared for the summer farewell show in groups based on their grade levels and performed a variety of dances, skits and songs.The evening opened up with the Kindergarteners who performed several dance numbers that had the audience clapping in unison.Parent Donna Ortiz had four children in the program this year and always enjoys watching her children perform."It's very cute," said Ortiz. "They love being here."
