RYE BROOK, N.Y. -- Klaus Schmid had never been to the ice cream shop that is now being replaced by a frozen yogurt and smoothie chain Red Mango, so it's nothing he will miss.
"Ice cream has a lot of calories," said Schmid, standing in the Rye Ridge Shopping Center. "I prefer something with more natural ingredients."
Last Licks Ice Cream shuttered its doors last month after being evicted from the property. The Ice Cream chain was known for its sports memorabilia and as a place to watch the game while enjoying a frozen treat.
According to the Rye Ridge Shopping Center's website, Red Mango is expected to open this winter. It is known for its all-natural frozen yogurt, fresh fruit smoothies and other health-oriented products, so it should sit right with Klaus.
"As long as there are no artificial sweeteners, I'll try it," he said.
