Slick, Slippery Roadways Result In Numerous Accidents

An overnight accumulation of snow and ice in much of the area resulted in slick and slippery roads Tuesday morning as the mixed bag of precipitation changed over to rain through much of the area.

A crash on northbound I-684 at Route 116 (Exit 7), reported at 6:15 a.m., caused backups to Exit 6A (Route 138/Route 22).

On the Taconic State Parkway, an accident on the southbound side at Route 100/Route 133 led to delays to Pinesbridge Road.

The right lane on the northbound Bronx River Parkway was blocked following a 6:30 a.m. accident at Claremont Road in Scarsdale.

Nearby, a 6:45 a.m. accident was reported on the southbound Bronx River Parkway at the Westchester County Center (Routes 100/119) Exit 22, causing backups to Old Tarrytown Road.

A 7 p.m. accident on the southbound Taconic State Parkway at Beekman Road in Hopewell Junction blocked the left lane and caused delays to Route 82.

An accident involving an overturned tractor-trailer on westbound I-84 near Route 312 (Exit 19) in Carmel was cleared just after 6 a.m.

An accident on eastbound I-84 at Route 52 (Exit 12) led to backups to Route 9D (Exit 11). It was reported at 6:20 a.m.

Nearby, a 6:30 a.m. accident was reported on Route 9D at Indian Brook Road in Garrison.

A Winter Weather Advisory that began at 8 p.m. Monday will last until 11 a.m. Tuesday for Northern Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess and Rockland and until 8 a.m. in Southern Westchester, the National Weather Service said.

Rain will continue through around 1 p.m. Tuesday with the high temperature reaching the mid 40s. There will be areas of patchy fog after 3 p.m.
