PORT CHESTER, N.Y. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand was awarded the 2011 Distinguished Community Health Defender Award by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) at Open Door Family Medical Center in Port Chester last Friday.
Gillibrand was in Port Chester to meet with Open Door President and CEO Lindsay Farrell and other community leaders "to discuss the integral role Open Door plays in the health and wellness of community".
"Senator Gillibrand has been a key defender of community health centers," Farrell said, "She recognizes the value centers like Open Door provide their communities in providing highly accessible care to low-income patients."
