PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- The approval of the Port Chester and Blind Brook school budget tops this week's news.
- Port Chester voters approved the $85 million budget for the 2013-14 school year in Tuesday's election. The budget is a 4.76 percent increase over last year and was approved with 816 votes in favor and 417 against.
- Residents of Rye Brook approved the Blind Brook school budget for next year with 555 votes in favor and 113 against. The $41 million budget is a 3.23 percent increase over last year.
- Students at Port Chester Middle School were among 11 national winners in the Lead2Feed World Hunger Leadership Challenge. The students grew 1,000 pounds of food in their community garden for the Don Bosco Community Center, and won $5,000 for the center.
- Is this your cat? An adult, orange male tabby was found in a yard in Port Chester, and taken to a veterinarian's office in Norwalk. The vets believe he belongs to a family, and want to help him find his way home.
