Rye, Rye Brook Ranked Among Safest Places To Live In New York

RYE, N.Y. -- The city of Rye and the Village of Rye Brook were both ranked among the safest places to live in New York by home security vendor Safe Choice Security.

Safe Choice examined statistics that included violent and property crimes in order to rank the municipalities throughout the Empire State. 

The Village of Rye Brook, with approximately 9,000 residents, was ranked seventh, boasting just .11 violent crimes per 1,000 and 7.08 property crimes per 1,000. 

The City of Rye clocked in at No. 19, with .13 violent crimes per 1,000 and 10.43 property crimes per 1,000. 

Overall, Rye Brook was rated safer than 87 percent of U.S. cities while Rye was rated safer than 75 percent. 

Briarcliff Manor was rated the safest city in New York and was safer than 98 percent of all cities in the U.S. 

Other Westchester towns included Pleasantville (No.4), Bronxville (No. 8), Harrison (No. 10), Tarrytown (No. 11), Scarsdale (No. 12), Croton (No. 13), Mamaroneck, (No. 14), Sleepy Hollow (No. 16), Hastings (No.17), Peekskill (No. 22), Dobbs Ferry (No. 24), Eastchester (No. 25) Mount Kisco, (No. 27), Ossining, (No. 28)
