Rye Brook Police Charge Three With Larceny

RYE BROOK, N.Y. -- Rye Brook Police charged Port Chester 18-year-olds Bashaun McGhee and Patrick Mahonski with larceny last week after receiving a call about suspicious persons on the Port Chester side of Wyman Street.

According to Lt. Eugene Matthews, police received a tip around 1:43 a.m. on Wednesday morning that three males dressed in black hoodies were rummaging through and looking into parked car after parked car. When an officer arrived on the scene a chase ensued, and with the assistance of both the Port Chester Police and the Rye City Police they were able to apprehend two of the suspects.

Matthews said that none of the locked cars were broken into, and that only the unlocked cars were pilfered. However, Matthews said that upon first glance it appeared that nothing was missing from the vehicles.

When police searched Mohanski they found a credit card that had been reported missing in Port Chester earlier that day. Mohanski has been charged with criminal possession of stolen property, a class C felony, while McGhee was charged with three counts of petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor.
