RYE BROOK, N.Y. Beth Liebmann dropped her kids off at school in the van Monday morning, but on Wednesday, she plans to walk with them instead of driving for Ridge Street School's annual Walk To School Day.
"I think its a wonderful tradition," said Liebmann. "It's good for the environment, and you get to spend more time with your children."
Walk To School Day is part of a national effort to not only encourage students to walk and bike to school, but to make sure that there are safe routes for them to take as well.
Parents are encouraged to join their children this Walk To School Day. Liebmann will be walking with her son, Harris, a sixth -grader at Blind Brook Middle School and her daughter, Samara, a third-grader at Ridge Street School.
"It's great because you can spend that extra time talking to them about more things," she said. "It brings parents and children together."
