Rare Otter Sighting Reported In Westchester

We've seen no shortage of black bear sightings in the area, with the latest coming lakeside Thursday night in North Salem.

Nearby earlier in the day, there was a rare otter sighting.

Sadly, the otter was was hit by a car on Route 116 along the Titicus Reservoir, reports North Salem resident Matt Walter, who submitted a photo to Daily Voice.

"I didn't know there are otters in this area," the 54-year-old Walter said.

Walter took the photo around 9 a.m. Thursday.

Otters are part of the weasel family Mustelidae, which also includes badgers, honey badgers, martens, minks, polecats, weasels and wolverines, according to wikipedia.
