The garden, which is in the school Atrium, consists of four raised beds and a greenhouse. It is used as an outdoor classroom for the students at JFK. This garden and others in the district are a significant component of the Port Chester school district effort to support nutritional and dietary awareness among its 4,400 students.

We are so proud that we have been able to give back to our community in such a way,” said fourth-grade teacher and JFK garden coach Karla Purcell in statement.

The school has been able to harvest an array of vegetables including 20 pounds of lettuce, 88 onions, 20 pounds of carrots, 68 cucumbers, 240 peppers, and 26 pounds of tomatoes
