Port Chester's Open Door Offers Free Breast Cancer Screenings

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Open Door Family Medical Centers will host "A Crucial Catch Day – Your Day to Fight Breast Cancer" -- providing women over the age of 40 in Westchester with free breast cancer education and screenings. 

On Tuesday, free breast cancer screenings and education will be offered to Westchester women over the age of 40 at the Open Door Family Medical Center, 5 Grace Church St. in Port Chester from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The free screenings are being offered on Tuesday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Open Door’s Port Chester location. 

Registration is required and women are invited to attend the event to have free breast screenings, learn about ways to reduce the risk of cancer and the importance of finding cancer early.

"A Crucial Catch Day" is made possible through a $50,000 grant from the American Cancer Society and the National Football League. The NFL-sponsored initiative provides funding to support increased access to breast cancer education and screening in underserved communities through the American Cancer Society’s Community Health Advocates implementing National Grants for Empowerment (CHANGE) program.

During a Tuesday morning press conference, Jim McGovern, senior vice president of operations for the American Cancer Society's Eastern Division, plans to present a $50,000 check to Lindsay Farrell, Open Door president & chief executive officer.
