The Capitol Theatre Radio station is a free station offered through DeliRadio, an online streaming radio platform. DeliRadio takes the upcoming calender for the theater and converts it into a radio station, allowing listeners the chance to hear what bands will be playing before buying tickets.

DeliRadio was launched in 2011 as a way for bands to build up an audience while out on tour, said  Chief Executive Officer Wayne Skeen. He said that it is tough for acts, particularly ones just starting out, to spread awareness of their music and get people to come out to see their shows. Artists provide their music to DeliRadio, which creates stations based around where they tour.

The station can be listened to on the Capitol Theatre's website, as well as through the DeliRadio website, where listeners can click back to the venue and purchase tickets, or purchase music directly from the artist.

Skeen said that best way to listen is through the DeliRadio mobile app. Listeners can find out when their favorite bands or genres will be playing at a nearby venue like the Capitol Theatre, as well as follow their friends and share tastes.

"You can see that your friend likes the same band, and you can also know that there's a show coming up that you can check out," Skeen said. People who are traveling and want to listen to some live music can also find shows near them playing music they like to hear.

He said that venues like the Capitol Theatre which have embraced the station can use it to promote their upcoming shows and become a one-stop-shop for music in an area.

"Lots of people listen to the radio every day. Our big vision is that a venue like the Capitol Theatre becomes the radio destination in the community."

While many bands use social media and the Internet to promote their music, it can be difficult for them to find new fans. It can also be difficult for fans to discover new music.

"You can go on Facebook and like your favorite bands, but it's hard to do that with bands that you don't know. Why not get a list of bands that you can go out to see?"
