Port Chester Woman Stabs Boyfriend After Dispute

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Shirley Gordon said she was in her bedroom Monday afternoon with her newborn baby when her boyfriend and the baby's father William Joseph Price allegedly came in holding bottles of bleach and ammonia and threatened to poison them all.

Port Chester Police were notified of a domestic disturbance at an apartment building on Weber Drive and arrived on the scene around 4 p.m. to find Price, 24, injured with two lacerations across his left arm and a puncture wound to his ribcage.

Price claimed to have injured himself repairing an air-conditioning unit, while Gordon, 23, stood by silently with their child.

When officers checked the rest of the apartment and found blood stains on the floor that were inconsistent with his story, they questioned Price further. He then said that he had been assaulted by a "Spanish man."The officers briefly stepped outside the apartment and upon returning, Gordon approached them and admitted to having stabbed Price. She said that she and Price had an argument, after which he threatened her and the baby. She said he also pushed her down, so she ran to the kitchen to grab a knife in self-defense.

Gordon is currently being held at the Port Chester Police Department and will be arraigned Tuesday, facing a felony charge of second degree assault. Price is being treated for non-life-threatening wounds at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, and will be brought back to Port Chester to face misdemeanor charges of menacing (threatening with a weapon) and endangering the welfare of a child. The child is staying with Gordon's mother.Price, who lives in the Bronx, had an outstanding warrant for a previous charge of menacing back in March in which he threatened to "cut the baby out" of Gordon who was still pregnant with their child at the time. Do you think Gordon acted in self-defense? What do you think should happen to Price?
