Flushing will take place between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Customers may experience a slight discoloration in their water and a decrease in water pressure. If you experience any discoloration, run your cold water in a basement sink for 15 to 20 minutes and it should clear up. The water will be safe to drink, but you may prefer to wait until the water runs clear before drinking or washing dishes or clothes.

Flushing is performed every year to remove harmless minerals that collect in the water mains. “The project is part of the company’s routine maintenance program to assure high water quality,” said Michael Pointing, vice president and general manager of United Water.

“It is also necessary for fire protection to be sure that hydrants are working properly. We appreciate our customers' patience while we complete this important work.”
