RYE BROOK, N.Y. Workmens compensation insurance is a major cost for small business, so with that in mind the Port Chester-Rye Brook Rotary Club invited insurance expert Adam Friedlander to speak about minimizing costs.
Many employers dont realize that they can keep costs down and workers working through a culture of safety and caring, said Friedlander, president of Friedlander Group, Inc. in Purchase, which provides workmens compensation insurance and consultation for New York retailers, restaurants, wholesalers and hotels.
Friedlander sat down to breakfast at the Rye Town Hilton Tuesday morning with local Rotarians and members of the Port Chester-Rye Brook-Rye Town Chamber of Commerce to discuss his self-published book How To $ave Big On Workers Compensation . I thought it would be a great advantage to the members of the business community, said Rotary Club president John Kiyak, owner of Port Chester Rug & Linoleum, Inc. and a client of Friedlanders. Hes saved me thousands of dollars.
Kiyak invited members from the local Chamber of Commerce to the meeting with the idea that they would pass the information on to the rest of their members. Chamber member Sandy Albanese works for insurance company Aflac and owns her own chocolate shop in Scarsdale.
I have a better understanding of workers compensation, said Albanese. This information can help businesses grow.
