PORT CHESTER, N.Y. Lottery officials estimate the chances of winning the $640 million Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 175 million, but that hasn't stopped Port Chester residents from flocking to Deli Delight on North Main Street to purchase tickets.
"People have been coming in all day," Deli Delight owner John Fernandez said Friday. "Yesterday was busy, but today is definitely busier."
Port Chester resident Victor Cana has already bought 10 tickets, and may come back for more. When asked what he would do if he won, Cana just laughed and said he wasn't sure.
"A lot of things, I guess," Cana said chuckling. "I can tell you now all of the things I would do, but the truth is I wouldn't really know until I won."
Fernandez, who bought a few tickets of his own, didn't hesitate to share what he would do with the winnings.
"I would go on vacation," Fernandez said. "Maybe to Aruba or South America, or take a trip back home to Portugal."
The Mega Millions drawing for the record-high jackpot is at 11 p.m. Friday.
