Port Chester Declares State Of Emergency Through Friday Night

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Port Chester has declared a state of emergency effective through 6 p.m. Friday.

The executive order was signed by Village Manager Chris Steers late Wednesday night in anticipation of Thursday's storm. Possible suspension of parking regulations may be announced by noon Thursday. If possible, residents should keep their cars off village streets.

Village Hall and the Senior Center are closed Thursday and all Recreation programs and garbage pickup are canceled. Essential village personnel will report to work and perform functions that are necessary for public safety.

Residents are reminded that clearing snow into the streets or sidewalk is illegal. Property owners are responsible for clearing sidewalks in front of their property, and failing to do so could result in fines. Residents are also asked to keep fire hydrants clear of snow and ice.

If you have no heat or hot water in rental apartments or need to report damage to building signs or awnings, call the building department at 914-939-5203 or, during after hours, call the police department at 914-939-1000.
